Larry Chow studied at the University of Illinois at Chicago and moved to Florida International University to complete a degree in Anthropology. Upon graduation, Larry worked as a Senior Veterinary Technician at the Miami Beach Animal Hospital. While in Florida, he volunteered his time at the Monkey Jungle, a protected habitat for endangered primates. A desire to return home to family and Chicago brought Larry back where he was employed at Blum Animal Hospital in the Lakeview neighborhood. Not wanting to abandon his college roots, he also spent some time voulnteering at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Larry is the proud guardian of two Labrador Retrievers, a boisterous chocolate named Buddy and his loving golden, Hailey.
Throughout her life, Kristina Lee has been active in animal rights. She's worked with pets over the years, volunteering at many Chicagoland animal shelters, pet friendly events, and has availed her own pets to help with animal assisted therapy. A chance encounter introduced her to alternative therapies and options for pets and Kristina embarked on an extensive training course in the anesthesia-free methodology, apprenticing in Los Angeles where she had the opportunity to perfect and master her technique.
Kristina completed her studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Public Health and has a Masters in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She's the proud guardian of two dogs, Curious George (the craziest Yorkie you'll ever meet), and the sweetest Maltese in the world, Audrey.
Our combined knowledge, education and enthusiasm offers your pet a thorough yet pleasant experience. We take extra special care in making sure your pet is relaxed and comfortable while we work.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our services!
Pet dentistry has become an established aspect of good veterinary care. One of the best things a pet owner can do to insure the overall health of their pet is to have a routine checkup of the teeth, gums, and oral cavity.
Comprehensive dental cleanings are recommended for pets as often as they are for people. Consider our services between these thorough veterinary procedures. Our technique is just a gentle approach to the traditional method of having to place your cat or dog under anesthesia.
Is Anesthesia-Free an Option?
Perhaps you have a pet that has not responded well to anesthesia in the past. Or maybe you have an older pet that you would prefer not to place under the stress of anesthesia. Sometimes, certain breeds (such as Boston Terriers, Pugs, Bulldogs, Persian & Himalayan cats, etc) have breathing issues that are more complex than breeds with a more conventional face and throat structure. Anesthetic risk can potentially be higher than usual in these brachycephalic breeds (Greek roots "Brachy," meaning short and "cephalic," meaning head).

We're a mobile service and work within your home. We feel the pets are calmer when they are in familiar surroundings, making them more compliant and the procedure less stressful on them. Your presence is most welcome while we work, but not required.
Our service area is Chicago and most of the surrounding suburbs. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to schedule a visit.

Kris is amazing! She worked on both my 7 y.o. greyhound and 14 y.o. geriatric rescue shepherd, who is generally very skittish and shy around strangers. In a short amount of time, she managed to win his trust and in no time, had him in a comfy position while she cleaned and polished. She has a wonderful way with animals and both of my dogs were at ease with her, as she talked to and soothed them through the entire process. Kris also went the extra mile, spending a lot of time on each dog, making sure their teeth were as pearly white as possible, and in the end gave me all of her observations and recommendations.

After my friend's cat almost died from a routine teeth cleaning at the vet, I vowed never to take that chance. Lucky for me I found Kristina Lee. The moment she walked in the door I could tell she had a way with animals. My tuxedo cat Alfie, who normally is terrified of everything, remained calm as Kristina gently swaddled him and held him in her lap during the teeth cleaning. She was very kind and patient, and explained everything to me as she went along. She noticed an abnormality in his gums and advised me that it wasn't serious but to keep an eye on it. Fortunately, it was nothing serious but my vet was very impressed with her knowledge and the dental work she had done on Alfie. I can't sing her praises enough.

Hi Larry! I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for such an AWESOME job that you did with Lily. I am so thrilled that she does not have to be drugged in any way to have her teeth cleaned now. They have never looked so good! You have such a wonderful way with animals and Lily just loves you! Now I just need to teach her how to smile so she can show off her pearly whites! Thanks again for an outstanding job along with your professional and compassionate way with my little girl.

Kristina was very good at working with my two dogs and two cats. I was surprised at how well she was able to calm down all the animals and then work patiently on cleaning their teeth without anesthesia. Even the cats submitted to her gentle and thorough work. All their teeth look great now and Kristina pointed out trouble teeth that will have to come out eventually at the vet's. I'm very happy and impressed. She was very pleasant and very good with the animals.

Larry was professional and kind to my Westies - he exercised care and immediately had my pups at ease. When he was done, I was totally amazed! No more tartar, only clean and sparkling teeth, just as if they had gone to the vet. I've recommended him to all the pet owners in the neighborhood and everyone who's called has raved about him and this unique service available to us. I am a very happy client and plan on using them again in the future!

To Paws 'n Claws Dental, thank you so much for cleaning the teeth on my Rottweiler, Sasha. She was calm for the cleaning due to the confident and soothing environment established by Kris, and I'm glad she was able to remove all the tartar. No more stinky breath! No more gum bleeding! Paws 'n Claws did a wonderful job and I will recommend your services to all my friends.

My little Tobey was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis two and a half years ago and anesthesia is a huge contraindication because of his immune system. The service you provide is a godsend because anesthesia isn't an option but brushing and tartar chews just weren't enough!
Thank you Paws 'n Claws for taking such good care of my baby. There are no more stains and no more tartar. The results are amazing and the service quick. A special thank you to Larry who understands how much Tobey means to me and the ability to provide such special care for him!

Kris worked on my three dogs: Peanut - a 3 y.o. female Pomeranian, Missy, a 6 y.o. female Maltie-Poo, and Rocky, a 1.5 y.o. male Australian shepherd. They all had really bad build up. Missy even had a loose tooth hanging out! Thanks to Kris who cleaned up my doggies' teeth, they now have fresh minty breath and shiny smiles. Missy's tooth just fell out after the cleaning (apparently, the tartar was what was keeping it in, GROSS!) And the best part was that it was all done without medication or having to knock out my babies!!!! Kris knows how to handle dogs with care and how to make them feel at ease. I was even surprised that my leery Australian Shepherd let Kris handle him. That shows that Kris really knows what she's doing when it comes to dogs. I highly recommend her to be the dentist of your doggies.

Kris came out to work on my golden lab Rosie and cat Jasper. I knew Jasper would be no problem because he's so mellow but Rosie has a lot of energy and tends to get excited. So you can imagine my surprise to see that she was actually very calm and patient while she was being worked on. Kris had her in a comfortable position on the floor and Rosie just allowed her to get the job done. It was almost as if she knew this was good for her and wanted to help Kris out. I highly recommend her services!

My wife and I had been growing increasingly concerned about anesthetizing our dogs every time they needed their teeth cleaned, since both of them are over 12 years old. Kristina provided a wonderful service - she came to our home and amazingly cleaned both our dogs' teeth with very little fuss in a very short time. It is a comfort to know there is a safe and humane alternative to using potentially harmful drugs on our pets. Thank you Kristina!
